We’ve known Nancy and David since… May. Yes – this May, this year, on this trip. We were introduced to them by our friends Mark and Linda at our Lake Powell rendezvous and it seems like we’ve been friends for years. Or, as Nancy suggested, perhaps we knew each other in another life…
When they’re not touring in their RV, Nancy and David live in Eugene. When we were in Eugene, they were out touring in their RV. We arranged to meet up in Joseph, OR, a pretty town in the heart of the Wallowa Mountains. We enjoyed a wonderful couple of days exploring the area, trading RV and travel adventures, and solving world problems over fabulous collaborative dinners. They were heading south, toward the eclipse path of totality, while we were heading west toward our next friends-and-family visit. We brainstormed ideas for our next get-together over a final lunch overlooking Hell’s Canyon.
Nancy and David are an inspiration to us. They bought their RV in 1995. They’ve used it most years for both casual and extended trips. And they still love it! We all had dessert in their rig on the last cool evening in Joseph. You could feel the love and memories alive in the walls. It was like hanging out in your favorite chair in your favorite robe and your favorite slippers, reading the Velveteen Rabbit.
We’re looking forward to next time. Mark and Linda, you in?
